THE SPORTS HACKER

A little History Of English Football.

The 80s were not a good time for English football. Stadiums were in poor shape and the sport was tarnished by the behavior of violent hooligans. English football clubs were also expelled from competition in Europe, due to the 1985 Heysel stadium disaster.

Clubs within the Football League First Division struggled financially, compared to other premier league clubs in Europe. Many players moved overseas to play with foreign clubs as the wages were better.

Thankfully in the 90s the sport bounced back, due in part to England´s success in the FIFA World Cup, in reaching the semi-finals. Also, UEFA (Europe´s football governing body), ended the five-year ban that it had imposed on English clubs competing in Europe. Stadium safety and capacity improvements were also made. The world cup is nearly heard so buy your World Cup Kits now. You can also purchase your favorites teams shirts on a number of online stores.

In 1991 the FA Premier League was born. It had total autonomy over its commercial/business operations from the Football League and association. This allowed the FA Premier League to broker its own coverage and sponsorship deals, enabling British football clubs to rise once again, attract new talent, and compete with the A-class teams in Europe.

1992 saw the transition of the top teams from the Football League into the FA Premier League. This meant that the Football League was left with just three divisions, instead of the four which it had for the prior 100 years.

The FA Premiere League operated within just one division. Even with all this apparent change, there wasn´t any real alteration to the competition structure; the same number of teams played at the top of the game, and teams were promoted and relegated between the FA Premier League and First Division, in the same manner as they were in the past, between the First Division and Second Division.
