EPL History
The English Premier League, otherwise known as the FA Premier League, is a league comprised of the highest ranking clubs in English league football. Itīs the biggest, most recognized football competition in England, perhaps even the world. Today, the English Premier League is made up of 22 clubs, with clubs being relegated and promoted, to and from the First Division.
The FA Premier League was first established in 1992, due to many clubs wanting to split from The Football League, so that they could land profitable television and sponsorship deals. During its years the FA Premier League has evolved in to the worlds most prestigious, most televised, sports event. Itīs also big, big business, with annual club turnovers topping nearly 1.5 billion pounds.
