April 23rd 2008 06:31
An inside sourse at Chelsea has stated that the 31-year-old is unhappy wasting his tallent in the reserves and wants a change. DC United are very interested in bringing he Ukraine international to the MLS.
Chelsea got their man too late in his career as he struggled to adapt to the pace of the English game after so long in Serie A.
Added to that, there was also speculation that he was Roman Abramovich's signing and not wanted by Jose Mourinho.
The Ukraine international, who had been friends with Chelsea owner Abramovich for many years, moved to Chelsea for a fee of £30million from AC Milan.
Shevchenko stated that he would love to end his career in the USA and it could come to pass sooner rather than later.
Other players that look like they will be of to the MLS are...
Figo (Inter Milan) to LA Galaxy or Houston Dynamo
Ronaldo (AC Milan) to Red Bull New York
Maciej Zurawski (Celtic) to LA Galaxy
And Sean Wheelock and other sources state that one "almost Beckham-like" transfer to an MLS club (most likely New York) is likely to happen.
